Training and ongoing workforce development allows us to build needed skills and create a much more efficient organization structure than is possible merely by acquiring consultants from the market.

We’ve invested in a strong program for training and development to manage any long term skills shortage in domestic service delivery. There is no dearth of talent in the US. All that is needed is an operational structure that effectively channels talented individuals towards value creation by giving them the skills necessary to succeed.

Workforce development program

Yes, it needs some heavy lifting, and the support of an ecosystem of subject matter experts, content providers, trainers, and infrastructure. But the investment in a strong workforce development program lays the foundation for long-term business sustainability, and the next generation of American technology leadership.

At Systems In Motion, we’ve worked with a number of dedicated individuals and organizations who bring a wealth of knowledge and best practices in skills training to build this foundation.

 

Workforce Development Process

 

Our training and workforce development program is designed in partnership with local universities and the State of Michigan, that provides us with mature processes, systems, infrastructure and content development capabilities. The training program is structured into three distinct phases.

Phase 1. Bootcamp Training

Designed to develop foundation skills and focus on specific competency areas (either by technology, or service line). Typical Bootcamp training runs between 6-12 weeks, and turns talented and motivated individuals into qualified and productive associates forming our practice pools. The program also covers standard operating practices, and quality management systems that new associates will use to work within Systems In Motion's delivery environment.

Phase 2. Induction Training

The second level of training is specifically designed to induct resources into a client program. The training is delivered either in Systems In Motion's facilities, or at one of our local college campuses and is led by Subject Matter Experts from Systems In Motion's solution team, or from our clients. The course material used is derived from documentation on our client's processes, and development environment with the primary objective of initiating new members into a client program quickly and effectively.

Phase 3. On-the-job Training

All Systems In Motion delivery resources go through some level of on-the-job training. At senior levels, on-the-job training is focused on management principles covered by Management Development Programs at Ann Arbor area universities. At the entry-junior levels, on-the-job training is structured within the context of service delivery, in two ways

  1. Mentored Learning, in which the team leaders focus on providing close supervision and support to associates as they work on service delivery, and require at least 25% non-billable study/lab work, and
  2. Shadow Learning, where associates are non-billable and paired with delivery resources whom they shadow and learn from. The Shadow resources also form a buffer pool to manage any attrition from project teams.
